Evaluation Tools

The Evaluation Tools feature helps students prepare for exams and determine their progress in the course. These tools are

  • Practice Tests
  • Online Quizzes
  • My Progress and My Grades
 

Steps for Practice Tests

Practice Tests may be used as study guides in preparation for online quizzes. The questions on the quizzes will be very similar (or identical) to the questions on the Practice Tests.

1.From the Home page click on Evaluation Tools, then on Practice Tests.Example list of practice tests.
2.Click on Intro to WebCT - Practice Test.
 You can find the correct answer on this page in your Introduction to Online Learning booklet. Each question has a similar reference.
3.Find the answers for each of these questions in preparation for taking the Intro to WebCT Quiz.

Note:
The Practice Tests and quizzes are "open-book", meaning that you are permitted to refer to any course materials. In this class, you may take an online quiz twice for practice. In other online courses, you will probably only be allowed to take a quiz once for credit, but may review it as often as you wish, if your instructor has it set up that way. Practice Tests are not interactive.
4.Pointer to Evaluation Tools link at top of page.When finished with the Intro to WebCT Practice Test, return to the Evaluation Tools page by clicking on the link.
 

Steps for Online Quizzes

Online Quizzes are interactive, open-book quizzes taken on the computer through your course site.

1.From the Evaluation Tools page, click on Online Quiz

2.Read the rest of these instructions for Activity #7 before starting your first quiz, then continue at the next step.
3.When you are ready, click on the Intro to WebCT quiz.
4.Read the instructions, then click on Begin quiz.
5.For each question, you must do three steps:
  • Read the question.
  • Mark your answer by clicking in the small circle to the left of your answer.
  • Click on the Save answer button.
Start of an online quiz. The red dot under the question number becomes a green star after you click on the Save Answer.
6.Mark your answers for each of the questions in the quiz.
7.Click on the Finish button, when you have completed the quiz.
8.Click on OK when asked, "Submit Quiz for Grading?"

Note:
Question 6 has not been answered. Continue?If you get a message like, "Question 6 has not been answered. Continue?" check the question indicated and make sure the answer is marked correctly. Then, click on the Save answer button. Watch for the red dot to change to a green star. Scroll to the bottom of the test and again click on the Finish button.
In this example, question 6 either had no answer marked or the Save Answer button was not clicked.
9.Click the Finish button to view the results of your quiz. (You must click on View Results for your score to post.)

Note:
You may review the questions, see which answer you checked, and check the 'Score' to determine if your answer was correct. The blue triangle mark indicates the answer you clicked. The Score of 0.0/0.5 indicates that #2 is not the correct answer.

The Score: 0.0/0.5 means that this student has received zero points out of 0.5 possible. The answer was incorrect.
10.Total Score: 5.5/6=91%Scroll to the bottom of the quiz to see your Total Score. You may take these quizzes twice.
If you want to review a quiz, click the circle to the left of 'View Scores for all my quizzes' on the Online Quizzes page and then click Go
This screen will list all the quizzes you have taken, your scores and other information about the quiz. Click on the blue "1" to review the quiz.

11.Navigate back to the Evaluation Tools page.
 

Steps for checking My Progress and My Grades

The My Progress and My Grades features allow you to check your progress in the course. My Progress reveals when you first logged on to the course, how many times you have clicked on parts of the course, and how much of the course material you have accessed. My Grades reveals your point scores in the course as they are entered...

  • by your instructor,
  • automatically (through online quizzes),
  • semi-automatically (assignment submission).
1.Click on My Progress.

2.Return to the Evaluation Tools page.
3.Click on My Grades. Your record will have scores for your assignments and quizzes. It will also have scores for Activity work as soon as it is done and entered by your instructor. The sample student record below helps explain the scoring system.

4.Use the horizontal scroll bar below the student scores to view the entire screen.

5.Send your answers to your instructor through Assignment Submission - WebCT Activity #7.
 
 

When you are ready to do WebCT Activity #8

  • If you have a printed booklet, click on the Home link (in the upper one-third of the screen), then turn the page in booklet to WebCT Activity #8. (As you have seen, the WebCT Activities in the booklet are also online, but it may be easier to do them from the printed booklet.)

  • If you do not have a printed booklet, click on WebCT's Next link (in the Action Menu) to go forward to WebCT Activity #8.
