Assignment Submission

The Assignment Submission feature provides a place for students to turn in their assignments and receive feedback.

Important!

If you are doing this module for credit, you will need to prepare the documents in Notepad or Word before submitting your assignments. There is a sample format below under "Preparing your Assignment."

If you are not doing this module for credit, but want to practice using the Assignment Submissions feature, you may send a Notepad or Word document saved under your name. Be sure to write, "This file is for practice only" at the top of the document. Follow the steps on the next page.

 
 

Preparing your Assignment

First type your answers to the questions in the preceding activities using Notepad, WordPad or Word. Notepad is the simplest word processor and easy to learn.

Below is a suggested format for your answers. Save your answers to questions in Activities 1, 2 and 5 in one file It must be saved with the filename shown below. In WebCT, filenames must not have spaces in them. "FirstL" should be replaced with your first name and last initial.

Steps to Submit an Assignment

1.Assignment Submission iconClick on the Assignment Submission, on the homepage and you will see the list of assignments.
2.List of assignmentsClick on the assignment you wish to submit.In this case, click on "WebCT Activities #1-#5".
3.Click on the Student Files button.

5.Click the Browse button to search for your file.

6.Open file dialog boxHighlight your file, then click on Open or double click on the file. If you cannot find your file, try checking:
  • "Look in" box for the correct location
  • "Files of Type" box shows All Files.
7.Browse for file dialog boxWith your file name showing in the box, click on Upload .
8.Verify that your file is showing in red letters.

9.Then, as instructed on screen, click the "Return to Assignment" link, which in this case is WebCT Activities #1-#5 (shown in red letters).

10.Click on Sumit Assignment.

12.Confirm: Assignment will be submitted. Proceed?When the pop-up confirmation window shows, click on the OK button to submit the assignment.

If you type in your email address when asked, you will receive a message that your file has reached the server for the course.

Now you will have to wait for your instructor to check your work and send feedback.
 
 

Steps to Check your Grade

1.Assigment Submission iconClick on the Assignment Submission, on the homepage and you will see the list of assignments:

2.If your assignment has been graded, click on the Graded link.

Footnotes
Assignment Availability
In the previous example and the one below, all assignments have unlimited availability. In your other online courses, you may have due dates for assignments. When there is a due date, the submission box will lock and no more work can be submitted.

Notice here that the student has submitted three assignments. The first one has been Graded and the next two are "Not Graded."

On this screen, due dates were set for the first two assignments. The first one still shows Graded. The second one, however, shows "Unavailable," even though the file has been submitted. It will continue to show "Unavailable" until the instructor checks and grades the work.
 
 

When you are ready to do WebCT Activity #7:

  • If you have a printed booklet, click on the Home link (in the upper one-third of the screen), then turn the page in booklet to WebCT Activity #7. (As you have seen, the WebCT Activities in the booklet are also online, but it may be easier to do them from the printed booklet.)

  • If you do not have a printed booklet, click on WebCT's Next link (in the Action Menu) to go forward to WebCT Activity #7.
